“EDGES: Seminars in English Studies” Held Successfully

The “EDGES: Seminars in English Studies” event, jointly organized by the Department of English Language and Literature and the Department of English Translation and Interpreting at Çankaya University, was successfully held on 16 October 2025 in the Red Hall.

The event hosted two distinguished scholars in their fields, offering participants a productive seminar environment enriched by contemporary academic discussions.

The first talk of the day was delivered by Prof. Dr. Adelheid Rundholz (Johnson C. Smith University, USA). Rundholz presented a comprehensive lecture on the relationship between translation practice and world literature, the dynamics of intercultural circulation, and the role of translation in the formation of literary canons.

The second speaker of the event was Prof. Dr. Hywel Dix (Bournemouth University, UK). Dix discussed the genre of autofiction within the context of cultural memory. Participants were introduced to significant conceptual frameworks regarding the role of autobiographical writing in contemporary literature.

We would like to thank all participants for their contributions, and especially Prof. Dr. Adelheid Rundholz and Prof. Dr. Hywel Dix for their valuable presentations.
